आर्मी डेंटल सेंटर ऑफ रिसर्च एंड रेफरल (ADC R&R) ने 01 मई, 2024 को अपनी स्थापना के 25 वर्ष पूरे होने का उत्सव मनाया है। इस अवसर पर पश्चिमी कमान के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग इन चीफ लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एमके कटियार ने प्रतिष्ठान का दौरा किया और कार्यक्रम की स्मृति में एक विशेष पोस्टल कवर भी जारी किया।
इस समारोह के दौरान दंत चिकित्सा सेवा महानिदेशक लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल विनीत शर्मा और केंद्र के पूर्व कमांडेंट भी उपस्थित थे। कमांडेंट एडीसी R&R ब्रिगेडियर एसएस चोपड़ा ने दंत चिकित्सा शिक्षा, अनुसंधान एवं रोगियों की देखभाल में एक अग्रणी संस्थान बनने के लिए आर्मी डेंटल सेंटर R&R की सभी उपलब्धियों तथा विभिन्न गतिविधियों से अवगत कराया।
आर्मी डेंटल सेंटर R&R सशस्त्र बलों का सबसे बड़ा दंत चिकित्सा संस्थान है, जो दंत चिकित्सा के लिए पांच विशिष्ट पाठ्यक्रमों में स्नातकोत्तर प्रशिक्षण की सुविधा प्रदान करता है। इनमें ओरल एंड मैक्सिलोफेशियल सर्जरी, प्रोस्थोडॉन्टिक्स और क्राउन एंड ब्रिज, पेरियोडॉन्टिक्स व ओरल इम्प्लांटोलॉजी, कंजर्वेटिव डेंटिस्ट्री तथा एंडोडॉन्टिक्स, ऑर्थोडॉन्टिक्स एवं डेंटोफेशियल ऑर्थोपेडिक्स की सुविधाएं शामिल हैं।
दंत चिकित्सा हेतु इस प्रतिष्ठान के दंत चिकित्सकों ने क्रैनियोप्लास्टी जैसी विभिन्न विशेषज्ञ प्रक्रियाओं को निष्पादित करके दंत चिकित्सा में महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धियां हासिल की हैं; इसे विशिष्ट शल्य चिकित्साओं में शामिल किया गया है। इसके अंतर्गत टीएमजे आर्थ्रोस्कोपी; सिर में हड्डी के फ्लैप की मरम्मत या प्रतिस्थापन होता है, जो अक्सर आघात, पिछली सर्जरी या जन्मजात असामान्यताओं के कारण खोपड़ी में उत्पन्न दोषों को ठीक करने के लिए किया जाता है, टेम्पोरोमैंडिबुलर जॉइंट (टीएमजे), जो जबड़े को कपाल से जोड़ता है और अन्य जटिल सर्जरी से संबंधित समस्याओं के निदान तथा उपचार के लिए एक छोटी व सरल प्रक्रिया का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है।
संस्थान ने सशस्त्र बलों हेतु सभी आयु वर्गों में सामान्य मुख शल्य चिकित्सा एवं पुनर्वास उपचार के दौरान एंग्जियोलिसिस और एनाल्जेसिया के लिए नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड-ऑक्सीजन अर्थात न्यूनतम बेहोशी की दवा के उपयोग की जद्दोजहद भी की है। यह सशस्त्र बलों में कंप्यूटर एडेड डिजाइनिंग (सीएडी), कंप्यूटर एडेड मैन्युफैक्चरिंग (सीएएम) प्रोस्थेसिस के निर्माण के लिए इंट्राओरल स्कैनर का उपयोग करने वाला एकमात्र केंद्र है। मैक्सिलोफेशियल दोषों के निवारण के लिए रोगियों के विशिष्ट प्रत्यारोपण यहां नियमित रूप से संपादित किए जाते हैं। इस संस्थान की लाइब्रेरी पत्रिकाओं और पुस्तकों की बड़ी डिजिटल पहुंच के साथ आरएफआईडी सक्षम है।
इस प्रतिष्ठित संस्थान के स्थापना दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में हर वर्ष दंत चिकित्सा के विशेषज्ञों द्वारा दिया जाने वाला ‘मेजर जनरल आरएन डोगरा मेमोरियल भाषण’ मेरठ के स्वामी विवेकानन्द सुभारती विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति मेजर जनरल जीके थपलियाल, (सेवानिवृत्त) द्वारा “इंडिया दैट इज भारत” विषय पर दिया गया।
पश्चिमी कमान के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग इन चीफ ने सभी रैंक अधिकारियों के साथ बातचीत की और इस संस्थान द्वारा प्रदान की जा रही विशिष्ट सेवाओं की सराहना की। उन्होंने सभी रैंकों से सैनिकों, उनके परिवारों और पूर्व सैन्य कर्मियों को अत्याधुनिक विशिष्ट देखभाल सुविधाएं प्रदान करना जारी रखने का आग्रह किया तथा सभी को समान रूप से पेशेवर उत्साह के साथ अपना कार्य करना जारी रखने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग इन चीफ ने रोगियों की देखभाल सुविधाओं में निरंतर सुधार के लिए आर्मी डेंटल सेंटर R&R के कर्मचारियों की भी प्रशंसा की।
