पंजाब के राज्यपाल बनवारीलाल पुरोहित ने पंजाब राजभवन में आयोजित शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू को पंजाब एवं हरियाणा उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में शपथ दिलाई। न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश भी रह चुके हैं।
शपथ समारोह की कार्यवाही पंजाब के मुख्य सचिव अनुराग वर्मा द्वारा संचालित की गई, जिसमें पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत सिंह मान, हरियाणा के राज्यपाल बंडारू दत्तात्रेय, हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री नायब सिंह सैनी, न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू के परिवार के सदस्य, पंजाब एवं हरियाणा उच्च न्यायालय के सेवारत एवं सेवानिवृत्त न्यायाधीश, पंजाब के वित्त मंत्री हरपाल सिंह चीमा, नवीन एवं नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा स्रोत मंत्री अमन अरोड़ा, राजस्व मंत्री ब्रह्म शंकर जिम्पा, स्वास्थ्य मंत्री डॉ. बलबीर सिंह, कृषि मंत्री गुरमीत सिंह खुडियां, हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ज्ञान चंद गुप्ता, पंजाब के महाधिवक्ता गुरमिंदर सिंह, पंजाब के डीजीपी गौरव यादव तथा पंजाब, हरियाणा एवं चंडीगढ़ के अन्य वरिष्ठ सिविल एवं पुलिस अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।
पंजाब एवं हरियाणा उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू की नियुक्ति को विधि एवं न्याय मंत्रालय द्वारा 4 जुलाई, 2024 को औपचारिक रूप से अधिसूचित किया गया। न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू का जन्म 1 जनवरी, 1965 को हुआ था। वे 5 अक्टूबर, 1987 को अधिवक्ता के रूप में पंजीकृत हुए तथा जबलपुर स्थित मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय में सिविल एवं संवैधानिक मामलों में वकालत की।
उन्हें 27 मई, 2011 को मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया तथा 23 मई, 2013 को वे स्थायी न्यायाधीश बने। न्यायमूर्ति शील नागू मध्य प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय में न्याय प्रदान करने का व्यापक अनुभव रखते हैं।
