लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर विनय कुमार सक्सेना के निर्देशों के मुताबिक, लेह शहर में नए जोश और कमिटमेंट के साथ एक बड़ा सफाई और शहरी सुधार ड्राइव शुरू किया गया है। इस पहल का मकसद लेह को देश के सबसे साफ, सबसे ऑर्गनाइज़्ड और टूरिस्ट-फ्रेंडली शहरों में से एक बनाना है।
मिशन मोड में काम करते हुए, संबंधित सरकारी एजेंसियों ने शहर के खास इलाकों में सड़कों के किनारे जमा धूल, कंस्ट्रक्शन और डेमोलिशन वेस्ट को हटाने के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर ऑपरेशन शुरू कर दिए हैं। ड्राइव का शुरुआती फेज लोक निवास, सेक्रेटेरिएट, लेह मेन मार्केट, जीवेत्सल और आस-पास के इलाकों जैसी खास जगहों पर फोकस है।
साथ ही, बड़े पैमाने पर पेड़ लगाने की तैयारी का काम चल रहा है, और शहर के ग्रीन कवर और खूबसूरती को बढ़ाने के लिए इन हिस्सों में गड्ढे खोदे जा रहे हैं। यह इंटीग्रेटेड अप्रोच न सिर्फ़ सफ़ाई को बेहतर बनाने के लिए बल्कि एनवायरनमेंटल सस्टेनेबिलिटी और शहरी सुंदरता में भी योगदान देने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।
यह पहल 15 मार्च को सक्सेना के लेह मार्केट और ओल्ड लेह टाउन के दौरे के बाद शुरू हुई है, जिसके दौरान उन्होंने सफ़ाई, इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर डेवलपमेंट और पूरे शहरी मैनेजमेंट से जुड़े मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर और लगातार कोशिश करने के साफ़ निर्देश जारी किए थे।
सक्सेना, जो खुद काम की प्रोग्रेस को मॉनिटर कर रहे हैं, ने सरकारी एजेंसियों की कोशिशों पर संतुष्टि जताई है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह के कोऑर्डिनेटेड और पक्के इरादे वाले काम लेह में एक साफ़, अच्छी तरह से ऑर्गनाइज़्ड और विज़िटर-फ्रेंडली शहरी माहौल बनाने में काफ़ी मदद करेंगे।
लद्दाख के लिए अपने विज़न को दोहराते हुए, लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर ने ज़ोर दिया कि सरकारी एजेंसियों की मिलकर और लगातार कोशिशें, जिसमें लोगों की एक्टिव भागीदारी भी शामिल है, लद्दाख को दुनिया के सबसे ज़्यादा पसंद किए जाने वाले टूरिस्ट डेस्टिनेशन में से एक बनाने के लिए ज़रूरी हैं।
