चल रहे स्वच्छ गाँव सुरक्षित जलवायु अभियान के हिस्से के रूप में, द्रास के उपायुक्त, इम्तियाज काचो ने लामोचन पुल के पास ठोस अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन (एसडब्ल्यूएम) केंद्र का दौरा किया ताकि सुविधा के कामकाज का जायजा लिया जा सके और द्रास जिले में किए जा रहे अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन पहलों की प्रगति का आकलन किया जा सके। उनके साथ उप-विभागीय मजिस्ट्रेट, विशाल अत्री भी थे।
दौरे के दौरान, द्रास के खंड विकास अधिकारी, डॉ. मोहम्मद अमीन नकवी ने डिप्टी कमिश्नर को SWM सेंटर के ऑपरेशनल प्रोसीजर के बारे में बताया, जिसमें कचरा इकट्ठा करना, अलग करना, प्रोसेसिंग, रीसाइक्लिंग और डिस्पोज़ल मैकेनिज्म शामिल हैं। सॉलिड वेस्ट के साइंटिफिक मैनेजमेंट को पक्का करने और पूरे ब्लॉक में एनवायरनमेंटल सस्टेनेबिलिटी को बढ़ावा देने के लिए किए जा रहे उपायों के बारे में भी डिटेल में जानकारी दी गई।
डिप्टी कमिश्नर ने फैसिलिटी के अलग-अलग सेक्शन का इंस्पेक्शन किया और कचरे को ठीक से हैंडल करने और प्रोसेसिंग करने के लिए किए गए इंतज़ामों का रिव्यू किया। उन्होंने कम्युनिटी की भागीदारी, सोर्स-लेवल पर कचरे को अलग करने और सफाई बनाए रखने और एनवायरनमेंट को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए सॉलिड वेस्ट मैनेजमेंट नियमों का पालन करने के महत्व पर ज़ोर दिया। उन्होंने जिले में पानी की जगहों और अलग-अलग जगहों की सफाई के लिए लगातार कोशिशों की ज़रूरत पर भी ज़ोर दिया।
इस इवेंट में द्रास ब्लॉक की अलग-अलग पंचायतों के नंबरदारों, सीनियर सिटिजन, पंचायत रिप्रेजेंटेटिव और लोकल लोगों ने एक्टिव हिस्सा लिया। पार्टिसिपेंट्स को स्वच्छ गाँव सुरक्षित जलवायु कैंपेन के मकसद और साफ और हेल्दी एनवायरनमेंट को बनाए रखने में नागरिकों की मिली-जुली ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में बताया गया।
डिप्टी कमिश्नर ने कैंपेन को लागू करने में शामिल रूरल डेवलपमेंट डिपार्टमेंट और सभी स्टेकहोल्डर्स की कोशिशों की तारीफ़ की। उन्होंने लोगों से सफ़ाई की मुहिम में मदद करते रहने, कचरा अलग करने के सही तरीके अपनाने और गांवों को ज़्यादा साफ़, हरा-भरा और पर्यावरण के हिसाब से टिकाऊ बनाने में मदद करने की अपील की। सब-डिवीजनल मजिस्ट्रेट ने भी इस मौके पर बात की और द्रास को साफ़-सफ़ाई का जीता-जागता मॉडल बनाने के लिए पहले की गई अलग-अलग कोशिशों के बारे में बताया। उन्होंने लोगों से चल रहे कैंपेन को सफल बनाने के लिए पूरा सहयोग देने की अपील की।
