राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मु ने इन्दिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय वन अकादमी, देहरादून में प्रशिक्षणरत व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण पाठ्यक्रम के भारतीय वन सेवा के परिवीक्षार्थियों के दीक्षांत समारोह में प्रतिभाग कर परिवीक्षार्थियों को प्रमाण-पत्र और पदक प्रदान किये।
राष्ट्रपति ने भारतीय वन सेवा के 2022 बैच के सभी प्रशिक्षु अधिकारियों को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि मुझे इस बैच में 10 महिला अधिकारी देखकर बेहद खुशी हुई। उन्होंने कहा कि महिलाएं समाज के प्रगतिशील बदलाव की प्रतीक हैं। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि ये अधिकारी अपने इस अप्रतिम दायित्व के प्रति सजग और सचेत होंगे एवं पूर्ण निष्ठा से अपने उत्तरदायित्वों का निर्वहन करेंगे।
उन्होंने कहा कि हमारी प्राथमिकताएं मानव केंद्रित होने के साथ-साथ प्रकृति केंद्रित भी होनी चाहिए। राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि भारतीय वन सेवा के पी. निवास, संजय कुमार सिंह, एस. मणिकन्दन जैसे अधिकारियों ने ड्यूटी के दौरान अपने कर्तव्यों का निर्वहन करते हुए प्राण न्योछावर किए हैं। देश एवं पर्यावरण के लिए भारतीय वन सेवा ने अतुलनीय अधिकारी दिये हैं। राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि जनजातीय जीवन शैली मुख्यतः प्रकृति पर आधारित होती है। इस समाज के लोग प्रकृति का संरक्षण भी करते हैं। यह अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है कि सदियों से जनजातीय समाज द्वारा संचित ज्ञान के महत्व को समझा जाए और पर्यावरण को बेहतर बनाने के लिए उसका उपयोग किया जाए।
इस दौरान उत्तराखण्ड के राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (से.नि) ने कहा कि यह समारोह हमारे राष्ट्रीय वन धरोहर के संरक्षण और प्रबंधन के क्षेत्र में नए योग्य नेतृत्व का उत्थान करने के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। उन्होंने कहा कि इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय वन अकादमी ने अपने क्षेत्र में अत्यधिक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। इस संस्था ने वन्य जीवन के प्रबंधन, और संरक्षण के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्टता के मानकों को स्थापित किया है और नए अधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षित किया है।
इस अवसर पर मुख्य सचिव राधा रतूड़ी, वन महानिदेशक और विशेष सचिव जितेन्द्र कुमार, इंदिरा गॉधी राष्ट्रीय वन अकादमी के निदेशक जगमोहन शर्मा एवं अन्य गणमान्य उपस्थित थे।
