भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस ने 19 अप्रैल 2025 को विश्व की पाँचवीं सबसे ऊँची चोटी नेपाल का माउंट मकालू (8,485 मीटर) पर सफल आरोहण कर एक और ऐतिहासिक कीर्तिमान स्थापित किया। यह किसी भी केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बल (CAPF) द्वारा इस शिखर पर किया गया पहला आरोहण है।
ITBP का यह बल-स्तरीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय पर्वतारोहण अभियान, जो नेपाल के माउंट मकालू और माउंट अन्नपूर्णा (8,091 मीटर) पर संयुक्त रूप से चढ़ाई हेतु 21 मार्च 2025 को बल मुख्यालय, नई दिल्ली से रवाना हुआ था, अपने आप में ऐतिहासिक रहा—क्योंकि बल ने इन दोनों शिखरों पर पहली बार प्रयास किया।
इस साहसिक मिशन का नेतृत्व श्री अनूप कुमार नेगी, उप कमांडेंट (सामान्य ड्यूटी) द्वारा किया गया, जबकि श्री निहास सुरेश, उप सेनानी (सामान्य ड्यूटी) ने उपनेता के रूप में भूमिका निभाई। 12-सदस्यीय टीम को दो समूहों में विभाजित किया गया था।
मकालू दल ने लगभग 08:15 बजे, 19 अप्रैल 2025 को 83% सफलता दर के साथ चोटी फतह की, जिनमें निम्नलिखित 5 हिमवीर शामिल हैं:

अन्नपूर्णा दल ने अत्यंत भीषण मौसम, हिमझंझा (blizzard) और शून्य-दृश्यता (whiteout) जैसी स्थितियों का सामना करते हुए 7,940 मीटर तक साहसिक चढ़ाई की। चोटी से मात्र 150 मीटर की दूरी पर, दल ने सुरक्षा व विवेक का परिचय देते हुए उसी दिन दोपहर 2:45 बजे वापसी का निर्णय लिया।
“स्वच्छ हिमालय एवं ग्लेशियर बचाओ” अभियान के तहत पर्यावरण के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता को दोहराते हुए, टीम ने इस अभियान के दौरान ऊँचाई वाले शिविरों से 150 किलोग्राम अपघटनीय (non-biodegradable) कचरा एकत्र किया।
इस सफल आरोहण के साथ, ITBP अब तक विश्व की 14 में से 6 आठ-हज़ारी चोटियों पर विजय प्राप्त कर चुकी है। बल द्वारा अब तक 229 चोटियाँ फतह की जा चुकी हैं, जिनमें माउंट एवरेस्ट, कंचनजंघा, धौलागिरी, ल्होत्से और मनास्लु प्रमुख हैं। बल द्वारा माउंट एवरेस्ट को पाँच बार फतह किया जा चुका है।
यह अभियान ITBP के पर्वतारोहण इतिहास में एक महत्वपूर्ण मील का पत्थर सिद्ध हुआ है, जो बल के साहस, अनुशासन और दुर्गम परिस्थितियों में अद्वितीय विशेषज्ञता को दर्शाता है।
