26 जून 2025 को, एक विशिष्ट सूचना पर कार्य करते हुए, उत्तर बंगाल फ्रंटियर के अंतर्गत 79 बीएन BSF, रायगंज सेक्टर के जवानों ने पश्चिम बंगाल के दखिन दिनाजपुर जिले के अंतर्गत सीमावर्ती गांव उत्तर आगरा से एक दुर्लभ टोके गेको छिपकली को बचाया।
10 इंच लंबी छिपकली की दुर्लभ जंगली प्रजाति, एक बॉक्स के अंदर छिपी हुई थी, जिसे सतर्क BSF जवानों ने सीमा के पास लावारिस पाया।टोके गेको छिपकली वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम 1972 की अनुसूची 1 के तहत छिपकली की सबसे अधिक संरक्षित प्रजाति है। बचाई गई छिपकली को वन विभाग को सौंप दिया गया है।
BSF भारत-बांग्लादेश सीमा पर तस्करी गतिविधियों को रोकने के लिए काम करते हुए वन्यजीव संरक्षण और सुरक्षा के प्रति भी उतनी ही संवेदनशील है।
