16वें वित्त आयोग के अध्यक्ष डॉ. अरविंद पनगढ़िया और सदस्य एनी जॉर्ज मैथ्यू, डॉ. सौम्य कांति घोष एवं डॉ. मनोज पांडा ने यूनेस्को विश्व धरोहर भीम बैटका का भ्रमण किया। उन्होंने प्रदेश की ऐतिहासिक और भारतीय संस्कृति की समृद्ध धरोहर को नजदीक से देखा।
वित्त आयोग के सदस्यों ने कहा कि भीम बैटका जैसे ऐतिहासिक स्थल भारत की सांस्कृतिक और आध्यात्मिक विरासत के अमूल्य प्रतीक हैं। इन स्थलों का संरक्षण भावी पीढ़ियों के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक है। वित्त आयोग के अध्यक्ष एवं सदस्यों द्वारा भीम बैटका में शैलाश्रय तथा शैलचित्रों का अवलोकन किया गया।
पुरा पाषाण काल से मध्य ऐतिहासिक काल तक यह स्थान मानव गतिविधियों का केंद्र रहा है। यहाँ के शैल चित्र मुख्यतः सामूहिक नृत्य, रेखांकित मानवाकृति, शिकार, पशु-पक्षी, युद्ध और प्राचीन मानव जीवन के दैनिक क्रियाकलापों से जुड़े हैं। चित्रों में प्रयोग किये गए खनिज रंगों में मुख्य रूप से गेरुआ, लाल और सफेद रंग का उपयोग किया गया है।
आयोग के अध्यक्ष तथा सदस्यों को भीम बैटका में प्रस्तावित रॉक आर्ट इको पार्क म्यूजियम के बारे में बताया गया। आयोग के सदस्यों को गाइड रवि यादव द्वारा शैलाश्रयों तथा शैलचित्रों के बारे में विस्तृत जानकारी दी गई।
