देश के कोने-कोने से आई टीमों ने 30 से ज़्यादा टीमों के साथ चरणजीत राय 31वें नेहरू गर्ल्स हॉकी टूर्नामेंट में शानदार शुरुआत की। शिवाजी स्टेडियम में तीन शानदार जीत दर्ज की गईं, जबकि नई दिल्ली की टीमों ने दो शानदार जीत हासिल कीं।
दिन की शुरुआत जीवी राजा स्पोर्ट्स स्कूल, तिरुवनंतपुरम द्वारा मध्य प्रदेश के कालपी स्थित सरकारी सीनियर सेकेंडरी स्कूल पर 23-0 की जीत के साथ हुई, जबकि खालसा गर्ल्स स्कूल, कोलकाता ने जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय, सुंदरलैंड, ओडिशा को बिना किसी जवाब के आधा दर्जन गोल से हराया।
दोपहर में दो अच्छे मुकाबले हुए। हालाँकि स्थानीय टीमें हार गईं, लेकिन उन्होंने उपस्थित दर्शकों पर प्रभाव डाला।
शिवाजी स्टेडियम में प्रशिक्षण ले रही एनडीएमसी गर्ल्स टीम ने सोनीपत के प्रसिद्ध टीका राम स्कूल के खिलाफ बढ़त बनाई, जिसमें प्रीतम सिवाच अकादमी की कई खिलाड़ी शामिल थीं, लेकिन 1-2 से हार गई।
दूसरे मुकाबले में, महाराष्ट्र के सितारा स्थित माधोजी हाई स्कूल ने वन थाउजेंड हॉकी लेग्स टीम को आसानी से हरा दिया। स्कोर 2-1 रहा।
आखिरी मुकाबले में हिमाचल प्रदेश के सिरमौर स्थित सरकारी स्कूल माजरा ने खेड़ा कलां की स्थानीय केवी गर्ल्स टीम को 18-0 से हराया।
केरल स्पोर्ट्स स्कूल के लिए निरंतना प्रदीप केवी ने छह गोल दागकर जीत का परचम लहराया। अभिला राग डी और दिलना दिनेशन भी गोल करने वालों में शामिल रहीं।
कोलकाता की खालसा गर्ल्स के लिए कशिश खातून ने तीन गोल दागे, जबकि पूजा शॉ (2) और श्रुति चौधरी ने भी गोल दागे। ओडिशा की टीम जवाब में अच्छा प्रदर्शन कर सकी।
दीपिका ने एनडीएमसी के लिए खाता खोला, जो अपना पहला बड़ा टूर्नामेंट खेल रही थीं, जबकि मौकी और साक्षी ने सोनीपत टीम के लिए गोल दागे।
श्रेया चव्हाण ने सितारा टीम को बढ़त दिलाई, लेकिन स्थानीय ओटीएचएल क्लब ने नसीमा तालुकदार के गोल से स्कोर 1-1 कर दिया। सितारा के लिए मैच विजेता निखिता अनिल वेताल रहीं।
खेरा कलां की लड़कियों को आखिरी मुकाबले में सिरमौर की लड़कियों ने बुरी तरह से पीटा।
