पशुपालन मंत्री जे. चिंजूरानी ने कहा है कि डेयरी क्षेत्र में उत्पादन घाटे का कारण बनने वाली खुरपका-मुंहपका बीमारी को वर्ष 2030 तक समाप्त करने का लक्ष्य है। मंत्री जिला पशु चिकित्सा केंद्र में खुरपका-मुंहपका रोग रोकथाम अभियान के छठे चरण का राज्य स्तरीय उद्घाटन कर रहे थे।
खुरपका-मुंहपका रोग टीकाकरण का छठा चरण 2 से 23 मई तक 18 कार्य दिवसों में पूरा किया जाएगा। पशुपालन विभाग का टीकाकरण दस्ता घर-घर जाकर गाय-भैंसों को निशुल्क टीके लगाएगा। मंत्री ने कहा कि पशुपालन विभाग, डेयरी विकास विभाग, डेयरी एसोसिएशन, स्थानीय स्वशासन संस्थाएं और अन्य सरकारी एजेंसियां तीव्र रोकथाम अभियान के तहत मिलकर काम करेंगी।
समारोह की अध्यक्षता विधायक थोट्टाथिल रवीन्द्रन ने की। पशुपालन विभाग की अतिरिक्त निदेशक डॉ. के. सिंधु ने परियोजना के बारे में बताया। जिला पंचायत उपाध्यक्ष एडवोकेट पी गावस, जिला पशु कल्याण अधिकारी डॉ. वी गीता, डॉ. अंबिका राजन नांबियार और अन्य ने भाग लिया।
